It’s that time of year and students are eagerly snatching scholarship opportunities. Some scholarships pick one student out of millions, others reward students for having a certain last name. It can be daunting to wade through all the scholarship opportunities in Washington just looking for a match, but this quick list will set you in the right direction.
Scholarships to Apply for in Washington State

Trinity Education Scholarship
For students determined to grow both academically and spiritually, this scholarship delivers in two ways. First, it provides financial support to help students stay on the path. Secondly, it provides individualized guidance and mentorship to help each student flourish in their own unique way.
The Trinity Education Foundation awarded the TSP Scholarship to 21 students in the 2018 school year and is hoping to provide even more opportunities in 2019. The greater the donations, the more students it can reach.
Qualification is based on an overall need: desire for guidance, need for financial support, and verifiable ability to achieve academic success. Students must be preparing to attend a accredited Christian university in Washington, Oregon, Montana, or Idaho. Look for your favorite schools below:

The TEF Dave Ellingson Scholarship for Environmental Studies & Social Justice
Like the Trinity Education Scholarship, there is more to this one than meets the eye. Successful applicants will be rewarded a two-week summer internship at Holden Village in the Cascade Mountains. Like summer camp, the internship is a chance to bond with others and practice sustainability as well as social justice in a nurturing environment. The precious memories will last a lifetime.
Only high school seniors preparing to enter an accredited Christian university (see above) will be considered, so don’t let this opportunity slip away.
Trinity Education Foundation scholarships are about more than just funding. They are about building foundations and providing continuous guidance through educational and spiritual trials. Become a part of something greater than yourself.
Education First Scholarship
Not for honors students with 4.0 GPA’s, this scholarship reaches out to the “academic middle.” Their ideal candidate is a first-generation college student who is scraping by but would benefit from encouragement. They want to hear about the unique obstacles that each person has met and overcome, not just in school but in life. Plan to apply early in 2019 for help in this coming academic year.
Youth Leadership Awards
Rewarded by the NSHSS, this scholarship went out to 20 people in 2018 and could reach even more in 2019. This scholarship is a chance for people to represent themselves working as leaders every day, helping to resolve conflict and solve problems in volunteer work as well as in their everyday lives.
Anti-Bullying Scholarship Program
Also offered by the NSHSS, this scholarship recognizes the two ways in which people combat bullying every day. First, the reward is given out to people who speak out against bullying and organize efforts to raise bullying awareness. Secondly, it reaches people who struggle personally due to bullying yet thrive academically. No matter what part you play in the fight against bullying, consider writing an application in your high school senior year. If selected, you can reapply for additional financial support in the coming academic years.
Washington State Opportunity Scholarship
Any Washington student heading into a STEM or healthcare field with a 2.75 GPA or higher qualifies for a helping hand with their student debt. Students may receive up to $22,500 from this scholarship alone. Plan to apply for the Opportunity Scholarship starting January 3rd 2019.
